How do huge grocery stores play a role in the mission to more equitably distribute food? To better understand how food is distributed (and often wasted along the way), let’s start all the way at the beginning of the food supply chain with the farmers.
After a months-long campaign, Proposition FF to fund Healthy School Meals for All has passed! This measure passed with a 55% yes vote statewide, and even earned a yes vote in El Paso County by a margin of 755 votes.
Dying your own clothes and bags can be a great way to customize, but how do you do it? It turns out you can use parts of food you ordinarily wouldn’t eat or pollinator flowers to create several colors! We showed Community Corner participants three colors they could make with avocado pits, red cabbage, and marigold, and we’re happy to share the information with you as well! Special thanks to Mel Williams for instructing us on these options and demonstrating how it’s done.
Harvest Celebration is this Saturday! Harvest Celebration is Food to Power’s largest fundraising event, but it’s much more than that. This event is a time for our community to gather and celebrate everything we have accomplished together.
