Processing Circles are a type of facilitated conversation (rooted in indigenous practices) where you will share experiences and perspectives, answering questions and processing events and their impacts, as a community group. It is a space to voluntarily share, so others may expand upon what you share, but will not directly respond or question. They will be facilitated by Restorative Rainbow Alliance. Restorative Rainbow Alliance’s mission is to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion and increase the number of queer practitioners in Restorative Justice Practices by offering queer-affirming circles, training, outreach, research, and advocacy
*It is not mental health therapy, but we will have resources to connect you to external service providers
in case you need mental support.
Art Therapy in two forms:
1. Designed art by Jeresneyka Rose for coloring/drawing/creating on your own or with others.
2. Gun to garden tool and art demonstration. After the Club Q shooting, several guns were destroyed and donated through RAWtools by an LGBTQIA2S+ couple to be used for the healing of the community in Colorado Springs.
For over ten years, RAWtools has turned guns into garden tools (via blacksmithing) from a restorative, victim and survivor based perspective. Some are more comfortable watching the process, and some are comfortable taking a turn with the hammer and helping make something new out of something that has caused harm.
Blacksmiths will be present to help facilitate this process for those who want to participate. A garden tool made from a gun will be completed and donated to Food to Power to use in their gardens. Other opportunities to turn broken gun parts into art may also be present. We understand this can be a sensory sensitive experience, so all broken gun parts will not be visible unless participants consent to seeing them.
Refreshments will also be provided with multiple dietary options.
