As we move into colder seasons, it’s the perfect time to bring squash into your kitchen! Wholesome and comforting, there are a variety of foods you can make including squash. September is one of those in-between months that feels like neither summer nor fall. (So far, it definitely has felt more like summer than fall!) Enjoy summer’s bounty while it’s still here (peaches and plums will be out of season before the end of the month) and get excited because it’s finally pumpkin and winter squash season!

When attempting to keep cool, we often think about what we can do, rather than what we can consume. Although fans, drawing the blinds and drinking more water are all great strategies to stay cool during the summer months, what we eat and drink can make a huge difference as well.
There are a multitude of benefits to eating seasonally: eating produce that is in season is fresher, it tastes better and is even more nutritious! It also allows for a varied diet in accord with the Earth’s changing seasons.
